A Berry Good Day

Parker and I fished Strawberry Res Friday morning and we had a blast! We left the house around 9 am stopped and got a bite to eat in Heber and made our way to Strawberry. We unloaded the gear and headed out to the lake at -2 degrees it was a chilly ride to our campsite. We were looking for Kokanee so we went to the deep water and ended up in the middle of the bay.

We stopped and decided to try the first spot for 15 minutes. We cut 4 holes for and set up our stuff. We had fish in the first 5 minutes of setting our lines. Nice sized cutthroat trout, but still inside the slot. The fun began! Before I set the video camera up we had six nice sized cutthroat trout on the deck. We decided to stay right where we were for the day.

We pulled the tent over and got comfortable. A little too comfortable when the sun hit high noon the tent got pretty warm! But we opened the vents and it only took minutes to cool it down and we were closing the vents. We continued to catch fish some small some large and a lot of tweeners. We had fun all day catching fish.

Parker set his underwater camera and we watched fish swim in and out of our area all day. It was fun watching them hit and nudge the baits around. He set it mid column and most of the activity in the 60 feet of water was suspended at around 30 feet deep. We went deep trying to locate Kokanee but never saw one swim through.
We ended the day with over 20 cutthroat trout through the ice hole. Broke camp at 2:30 and headed for home happy with our day's catch and adventure.
