Trout Fishing with Jack!

We fished Deer Creek on this trip and was supposed to have two of the grandsons on the boat, but Harrison was like, let me sleep! Jack made it out with us and we had a fun day.  We launched at sunrise, it was a beautiful one, nothing like being on the lake at sunrise and watch the colors.  The water was 71 degrees and the trout were running deep.

We trolled of course with lead line and pop gear and Parker had his down rigger running 40 ft. deep with dodger and squid.  We caught Rainbow's on each set up and a few of them on each.  We just had a fun morning and made sure Jack had a blast!  He reeled in almost every fish caught that morning.

Fishing is an escape from the realities of everyday life and a great way to enjoy family time. Get out and wet a line.

Pineview Muskie?

Couple weeks ago Shifty and I went to Pineview to fish for Muskie. Well it didn't quite turn out that way. When arriving at Pineview we launched the boat and when I returned to the dock the motor wasn't running. I asked what's up? Shifty informed me the impeller stream wasn't flowing and then started the engine and sure enough it wasn't. He quickly turned off the engine, and I said your impeller is gone. He asked a couple more guys at the dock and they told him the same thing. Now what do we do? I said put the trolling motor down and lets fish, Shifty was hesitant not sure if the MinnKota would handle the wind if it came up. Neither of us were willing to go home and I wasn't in the mood for shore fishing. So after deliberation we put the trolling motor down and headed out.

Kenai River Sockeye Fishing

We spent 8 days on the Kenai in mid July.  We flew into Anchorage and drove to Soldatna where we stayed with our friends Will and Jane. They have a beautiful home on the Kenai river and the set up every fisher wants in a fishing retreat, but it's their home!!
