Fishing Jordanelle Early Fall

Thursday morning started with picking up Shifty and heading up Provo Canyon to Jordanelle Res. Quickly becoming a favorite of Shifty, I already liked the water. We arrived at the lake at 7 am after a quick stop for breakfast with the sun coming up later each day we get to sleep in a little, but that just means ice season is coming around the corner.

We launched and went into one of the lanes that has been producing and fished it for an hour or so and got a couple fish on the boat using dodgers, I used my Fish Steeler Chronicles dodger from Gulls Customs and it rewarded me with a nice rainbow. This lane was slow though and we wanted to limit out so we went into a couple more lanes and finally ended up at the buoys of Rock Cliff and we trolled them for the rest of the morning and limited out by noon with some decent bows.

We picked up and headed for the coves and started throwing cranks at the rocks. I tried a new lure I purchased got a smallie on the second cast, the poor thing wasn't even the size of the lure. We fished in some familiar areas for a bit and wasn't getting the results we were looking for. I pulled the kota up and we moved to the dam and fished here for a the rest of the afternoon and we each got a few nicer sized smallmouth bass out of this area.

We finished the day with a limit of rainbows and a few smallmouth bass. The day started out cool and warmed up with a breeze most of the day. Water temp was 67-68 degrees and still pretty clear. The lakes need to turn over and then the feed bags will be back on.
