Ice Fishing Scofield Reservoir 2018

Thursday morning I met with my new office team Jim Young, Randy Keys and Kenyon Petersen in Lindon and we left for Spanish Fork to pick up our last team member Brandon Hawkins. We were taking a working field trip to Clear Creek Camp. This is our Energy Specialist team. Kenyon had ice fished a couple times but not gotten a fish before and this was Brandon's first day of ice fishing. We made our way up the canyon and was at the lake by sunrise. It was a balmy 16 degrees as we unloaded the trailer and readied the wheeler and sled for the trek across the lake to the bay we had good luck in the other weekend.

We loaded up the wheeler and sled and took off.  I made a couple trips to get everyone over to the spot and got holes cut and Brandon was the first to drop a line and within seconds he had one on line only to lose it on the way in. We finished setting camp and everyone got lines in. I moved the finder around to each hole so they could see what was happening in their hole.

I was the next to get a hit, Brandon called out, Stacy you got one. I ran back to my hole and sure enough I had a cutthroat online and reeled to the surface. We had our first fish on the deck. Brandon came with another cutthroat and then another. Kenyon got on the board and then I got one at the same time, our first double up.

Jim hadn't gotten a hit yet, and Randy was sleeping in the truck. I moved the finder over to Jim's hole so he could see what was happening and he had fish all around him. Brandon landed his second and I got my third right after him. Jim swinging zero. Kenyon caught his second of the morning and Jim was wondering what was going on.

Jim finally got a hit and with that hit the line broke, we tied on more flies and jigs and set him down again he got another hit and again lost the hooks, this was on brand new line!  I tied off another rig for him after stripping off a few feet. Jim finally got in on the action and brought up three fish one after another in no time.

Jim and I are tied for most fish at this point, and time was running out on us we had to be off the lake by 10:30 to get to Clear Creek Camp. I pulled another fish and not long after Jim caught his fourth as well. Time ran out so we ended up with the same count. Brandon and Kenyon ended up with two a piece. Randy had made it over to us in the meantime and enjoyed our catching with us.

What a fun trip!  All cutthroat trout and no Chub.  Kenyon and Brandon got their first fish ever through the ice hole! We had a blast. We loaded up and headed to work at Clear Creek Camp.
