Soldier Creek Ice Fishing

Getting this out later than normal, we were on the ice Jan. 27th and we had a blast.  We took the CanAm and went toward the dam and cut a few holes in the ice and started fishing right after sunrise.  It was a balmy -2 that morning. With the CanAm we made quick time of getting to a spot.

We stopped in a small draw and between two points. Cut the first hole in 30+ feet of water and I cut one near the bank in 13 feet of water. Parker got the first fish to hook up but the line broke, same pole Jim was using the week before we threw it in the sled not to use it again until we re-line it. I got the next hit and landed a nice cutthroat trout to start of the morning.

We set the tent and and got comfortable for the net couple hours Parker caught three fish and then the bite went dead. Nice thing having the CanAm is we are mobile and we moved, two or three times before settling on another spot and stayed with it till we called it a day.  We stayed there because I landed a fish quickly and we thought we found another pocket of them. Much to our disappointment it was the only one caught in this area.

We were looking to get away form everyone and we did and we caught a few decent cutthroat trout. A good day and all the equipment worked great, except that stinking line on the pole yep it has been stripped and replaced!
