Deer Creek 04-27-18

Saturday Parker and I headed to Deer Creek to get back into the groove at our favorite lake.  After three years off the pond, we learned we are out of touch with it.  Hopefully this season we will dial back in and find our groove with it again.
Today we trolled many of our favorite lanes and only managed a couple fish, could have been time of day, full moon, or any other multitude of things that kept us from really loading up in the fish today, but I feel it is time off and knowing the pattern as well as we did.

We trolled every depth of the water column with downriggers, lead line, and planer board.  The planer board is the only thing that produced for us. The first rainbow was a good-sized bow and we thought t was going to be a good day, but like last week at Jordanelle, it was the only hit for hours.  The second came with a planter hitting the planer board trailing a kastmaster, but it wasn't even large enough for us to think that the fish was hooked up. We drug that poor fish for a good 20 minutes before I thought maybe it took the bait I had on the hook and found that it was there.

It was a beautiful morning and there were plenty of fishers on the pond but we didn't see much action on any of the boats and those we spoke with said it was slow as well.  Time to try new areas of the lake and new methods.  Plenty of areas to try and lures to throw!
