Good morning of fishing............
Catching on the other hand was not so good. We did manage to coax one Cutthroat to hook up, a couple more hits but that was it. We ran rainbow, flash tape, nickle/brass diamonds, rapala's, flatfish.....yep just one caught. We did have a good morning even though. It was quite cold 23* to be exact when we got there in the morning. We pulled up and there was another group getting ready to launch they were putting on winter gear, I was in flip flops and zipoffs, Parker was in a hoodie.....LOL, they thought we were nuts. We went to Jordanelle today to try something new and to be totally new we went to the Rockcliff side and launched there. Good place not crowded like the Hailstrom marina. Lots of debris in the water from run off and the water was quite murky. Parker really started to get cold by late morning so we headed in. I went to Chubby's with my Dad after that and had 2lbs of crayfish.....yep Louisiana style....mmm, mmmm, good! til next time keep smilin'

First boat trip of the season and 1st in 2 years for Parker
Saturday morning, not as early as we planned on getting out, we got on the water around 7:30 am. After our usual stop at Walker's for refreshments and worms. Parker and I were fishing again after 2 years, it all fit so well. We got on the water and threw out the pop gear, me running rainbow and Parker running silver diamonds. I got the first fish of the season in about 2 minutes, figured it to be a fluke. We both got back in the water and about the time the line got to depth I hooked another bow, planters but they were fish. Parker feeling this was going to a rainbow kinda day he switched quickly. Nothing for the next hour!! Then he got one, and another, and another. We both got hits and got them reeling in and they would quick release, some would be jumping right off the bat and throw the hook some would wait til they seen the boat and throw the hook. We started wondering if our hooks were bad, we checked them, tweeked them and again some more QR's. Crazy stuff we were thinking but we were getting hits and hook ups so we stayed the course. The hit was spotty and slow but kept us entertained. We finally landed 8, I caught my 3rd and the last of the 8 about noon. It was good having Parker back in the boat.

We headed for Wallsburg and got lunch at Jose's "Solo In Town", if you haven't ate there you need to treat yourself to a great little "dive". Jose puts on a great plate and very tasty and filling. He has some of the best authentic Mexican style in the state. We had the Wallsburg double and got more than we bargained for as usual. Got a bag of ice for the days catch and headed for home.
They were all decent sized but mainly carryover planters, rainbows and one native. A great day beautiful blue bird conditions.

Morning on the banks
Spent the morning on the banks of Deer Creek. Supposedly it has been hot. Not for Parker and I. We spent the morning throwing lures and sinking another line with everything. Talked to couple folks and tried what they said had been working for them. Shoreline fishing does not match with Parker and I we came to the conclusion. Skunked on DC a rarity for us. Boat goes in to get spring tune up this week look out trolling lanes we will be there this weekend!!

First Fish with Parker in 2 years!
YES!! Parker is home he arrived home on Wed. Feb. 29th from Birmingham England. We spent the weekend getting things in order at the house and other duties done the rest of the week. He asked me Sunday if I could take off Monday. I of course said you bet! I have waited for 2 years to have time with him and this was the perfect opportunity. We woke up Monday and got on the road around 8:30am. We headed south it was looking like a good day to be out. I asked my friend about a couple lakes and he suggested we hit Nine Mile Reservoir in Sanpete County. It is about 1.5 hours south of us so we headed out and got to the lake around 10:00am. We pulled into one of the parking areas and there were a few other vehicles there. We watched a gentleman pull in a very nice 4lb rainbow and that was all we needed to see, we congratulated him on a great catch. We got our gear ready to go and started over the muddy I mean MUDDY terrain to the lake. We got settled in for a bit and watched as the guys up bank from us pull in fish after fish we started wondering what we were doing wrong. One of the boys limited out and left so we packed up and headed up bank and through the MUD it was sloppy and slick and thick!!! We got settled in again and asked the guys what they were using and we made the change to what they were using. We were running 2 poles one baited and the other running everything from blue foxes to jakes, still nothing happening. We watched and adjusted to what they were doing. Another one limited and headed out the one guy left said come on over, there is a hole here that is about 15 foot wide the we are catching them and just inside the moss bed out there. He showed Parker what he was doing where to cast and what to do. I put on a chub KM and finally got one to hook up, a nice cutt with very nice colors.
Parker got one in the next few minutes but by the time I got the camera out he had lost control of his and it went back to the lake. We released all fish. Parker had a great time talking to all the boys on the lake and spreading the word :) He is still in Missionary mode which is fun to watch at times. We met up with a gentleman by the name of Fenton Mills from a local town he was funny old guy with lots of things to say. He watched us pack up and leave and decided it was too MUDDY to venture out on the lake bank. As we left, he broke out his fly pole and went across the highway to a small inlet pond and started casting. We headed home and stopped off at Reed's in Nephi, got a burger and made for home. What a great day!!! It was a Blue Bird day with plenty of sun a small breeze. We got a little color ourselves for the day. It was the perfect start to a new fishing adventure chapter for us. til next time keep smilin!
