Fishing with Grandkids

Monday morning, Memorial Day we set our sites on Deer Creek. We had Parker and his son Jackson, Jimmy and his son Harrison on board the Fish Steeler. We got to the dock after waiting for the gate to open at 6 am. Don't know why they have them closed... We readies the boat and got on the water, only to figure out I left the bait at home....DOH! Oh well we had plenty of lures and grubs so we made the best of it. Hmmm worked out great actually.

We went to an area we call the Bermuda Triangle and through out our offerings.  Parker put his new down rigger ball to work and the dodger and pink squid hooked up the first of the morning.  Jack reeled it in and had a huge smile. Harrison was next not long after with another nice Rainbow trout. He reeled it in like a champ. Now if we can get them to hold'em.

We fished the morning and had to get off early for other family activities and going to the cemeteries to show our respect to our loved ones especially those that served our country.  We fished without bait all day and one of better days.  Flatfish was one of the go to lures for the day, but the squid on the dodger was the most productive.

We had a smorgasbord of offerings for the fish to take and the dialed in on those two colors for some reason. We didn't care as long as we were catching. We ended up with 14 in the live well at the end of the morning. The boys were great, we did take a ride for the boys and had a little fast action fun on the water. Not much better than to spend the morning fishing with your grandkids.
