Happy 24th of July Fishing!

Yep, we celebrated Utah's statehood on the lake. We went to our favorite lake and hunted for Kokanee Salmon. We got on the water later than usual but still one of the only boats on the lake.  That's why we like it, not many folks go there.

The morning was overcast and it rained on us for a little bit. The water was stained and dirty with lots of grass. The water temp was at 65 degrees so we knew they would be deeper in the column. Parker set up his downrigger and I set out my 30 jet diver and Jimmy ran a lead line at 30 feet deep. We started trolling with dodgers and squid with corn for bait. Also used a lure from Fish-Tech that was supposed to be the bee's knees, not so much.  We fished most of the morning through our regular lanes and got nothing. Headed to the main body by the dam and finally got a couple Kokanee to take our offerings. Nothing big but they had fins and gills.

Parker hooked up the first Kokanee of the day on his dodger with the downrigger at 35 feet deep. Jimmy was next up and got a decent Kokanee but still not really a keeper, but we kept it when it would not swim away. The next fish was Jimmy as well this time a nice fighting cutthroat. Yep, yours truly didn't hook one for the day but it was great to get out Jimmy and Parker. Parker has been working double duty for a while and hasn't been able to join us, so we were happy to have back in the boat.
